Make it yours: Introducing our debit card widget

Learn about First Dollar’s new implementation option for partners

Can we white-label your Health Wallet app? Do you have an API for deposits? What about a widget?* The words vary, but the question is the same: If we choose First Dollar, will First Dollar-powered benefits belong with the rest of our product experience?

We’ve learned there’s no right way to build a benefit experience. The appropriate solution depends on a partner’s existing platform, resources, and goals.

That's why we’re excited to announce the newest addition to our widget library: the debit card widget. With this release, partners can embed branded card management features on their platform with minimal technical setup.

*Yes to all three

Your benefits, your brand, your platform

Unlike complex API integrations that require dedicated development teams and months of work, implementing First Dollar widgets require just a few lines of JavaScript.

Great experiences don't have to start from scratch. Embeddable components help you craft seamless journeys by building on what already works.

With the debit card widget, your members never leave your platform. They can activate cards, view details, lock for security, and request replacements—all within your branded experience.

What your members can do

Members can activate, view, lock, and request cards from their web portal or mobile app.

Activate cards with a click

Inactive benefit cards create friction and support headaches. With the debit card widget, activation happens instantly within your platform.

Virtual card advantage

If you offer virtual cards to members, they'll get immediate access to benefit funds upon activation—no waiting for physical cards in the mail.

View virtual card details securely

Members can access card numbers, expiration dates, and CVV codes whenever they need them for online purchases.

Security first

If you leverage First Dollar's lifecycle marketing campaigns, members will receive immediate email notifications when their card details are accessed.

Lock cards for peace of mind

Card misplaced? Members can prevent new purchases by locking their card until it's found, then unlock it directly through your portal.

Request new cards without calling support

When cards are lost, stolen, or damaged, members can request replacements directly through your platform instead of contacting support.

All card types supported

The widget works with virtual cards, physical cards, and dependent cards—giving you complete flexibility.

Implementation made simple

With First Dollar’s widgets, we can embed Health Wallet features directly on our platform, providing a seamless experience with minimal setup on our end.”

Here's what makes widgets different from other integration options:

Here’s how we break down implementation options for our partners.

Widgets bridge the gap between "send users away to a separate portal" and "hiring a team of developers to build API integrations."

Weeks, not months

Our widgets allow partners to render our components in their own applications. The widgets require minimal setup, with just a few lines of code to get them ready to go.

For partners set up for single-sign on (SSO) with our platform, here’s the implementation process for our debit card widget:

  1. Copy the embed code (just a few lines of JavaScript)
  2. Add it to your platform where you want the widget to appear

That's it.

Practice first

Developers can test implementation using First Dollar's widget playground before going live.

Real business impact

Reduce support costs: Members handle card activation and management independently, eliminating routine support calls.

Faster time-to-value: Virtual card access means members can start using benefits immediately after enrollment.

Higher satisfaction: Members stay within your familiar platform instead of being redirected to external portals.

Stronger brand presence: Every interaction reinforces your brand, not ours.

First Dollar’s widget library

The debit card widget joins our existing widget collection.

Contributions Widget

Members can make health savings account (HSA) deposits via ACH from linked bank accounts or request employer contributions.

Reimbursement Widget

Members can withdraw HSA funds via ACH or submit claims for flexible spending account (FSA), health reimbursement (HRA), lifestyle spending account (LSA), or other notional program reimbursements.

Each widget follows the same simple implementation model—embed once, customize to match your brand, and provide seamless member experiences.
